My banker said "Tony that is the best put together business plan and package that I have ever seen.  I have never seen one so concise, and full of useful information.”  Now, this was coming from a banker, (aka the guy to approve or decline a loan!), not a small business person, and certainly not a coffee shop owner or operator.  In 2004, I finally had the opportunity to put the plan to use and so I opened my shop and followed the plan.  Then, mistakes followed:  Unrealistic calculations in sales projections, used equipment that began to fail, a bad location, wrong demographics, under capitalization, and a lot more.  All by following that same plan that the banker said was the best he had ever seen.  Yes, written by an entrepreneur, but not one that was ever in the coffee business, namely a coffee shop entrepreneur, owner and operator.
